Never Mind the Beasts

Website of surreal-absurd writer Marcus Silcock

When I was living in Utah and just starting out as a writer, there were a few literary journals I loved and looked up to deeply. They were the places where I discovered work that made me feel both challenged and encouraged, and they helped shape the writer I was becoming. Over the years, I’ve been fortunate to publish in some of those journals, including Tin House, Poetry, and Fence.

But Willow Springs has always felt especially close to home. It has a spirit that I’ve always admired: the work inside is accessible, but it also takes risks and surprises you. There’s a wildness to it that feels rare and alive.

So I’m thrilled to have two prose poems in the latest issue of Willow Springs. It’s also a beautifully made magazine, which makes being part of it feel even more special. And to have my work appear alongside some of my favorite writers is something I’m deeply grateful for.

You can buy the issue over here.
