  1. In Benjamin Péret’s poetry there are both the worst and the best. The best can be found in “Dormir dormir dans les pierres” (1927), “Le grand Jeu” (1928) (in english “The Big Game”) and “Je sublime” (1936). This one contains two great surrealist poems callled “Allô” and “Clin d’oeil”, which are hymns to mad love, full of strange and wonderful metaphors. In his poetry there is a true madness, and his taste for poetic transgression is almost not to be equalled.
